What happened
UK Maritime Trade Operations Warning 121-26 said local authorities reported that a tanker near Khasab had been struck by an unknown projectile, causing a fire that was subsequently extinguished. All crew were reported safe and no environmental impact was reported. The Joint Maritime Information Center later identified the eastbound vessel as the Kuwaiti-flagged AL SALAM II and reported a small breach above the waterline. Neither UKMTO nor JMIC identified the projectile type or assigned responsibility, so this record does not attribute the attack.
