What happened
A rupture and reported explosion on the gas pipeline carrying Bolivian gas toward Cuiabá occurred in a rural part of Nossa Senhora do Livramento. Automatic safety valves closed and halted transport, cutting supply to the 480 MW Cuiabá thermal plant and affecting vehicle-gas and industrial consumers. Local reporting said debris injured two women and damaged a nearby home. Brazil's ANP opened an investigation; the contemporaneous accounts reviewed here did not establish a cause. Operator GasOcidente completed repairs, and state regulator AGER said gas supply was restored after technical tests and ANP clearance by 8 February.
