What happened

Anadolu reported that Iranian state broadcaster IRIB, citing military sources, described several explosions in the southern passage of the Strait of Hormuz and suggested tankers using routes not authorised by Iran may have struck sea mines. No vessel names, number of affected ships, casualties, damage or independently verified impact locations were supplied. The explosions and proposed mine explanation remain unverified here. This grouped report is not a count of confirmed tanker attacks and does not establish who laid any mines. The marker represents the wider strait, not a mine location or navigation advisory.

When cited sources give different casualty, damage or spill figures for this event, they’re reported side by side above rather than merged into one number. See how confidence levels work.
