What happened
India's Ministry of External Affairs said the Panama-flagged oil tanker MT ON PEACE was struck by an unknown projectile while transiting the Strait of Hormuz off Oman. Twelve of the 19 crew members were injured, including 11 of the vessel's 17 Indian nationals. Omani authorities assisted with their evacuation to Khasab for medical treatment. Reuters described the vessel as an Aframax tanker and reported that Kpler data last showed it discharging fuel oil at Fujairah on 26 August with its transponder switched off; that earlier voyage does not establish what cargo, if any, was aboard during this attack. India did not identify the attacker or projectile type, and no reviewed statement established pollution, cargo loss, the vessel's propulsion status or its subsequent destination. This is a separate 6 October event and is not merged with UKMTO Warning 156-26 from the preceding day.
