What happened

Pemex suspended transport through a six-inch isobutane pipeline in its Minatitlán–Salina Cruz system after a loss of containment and fire in Texistepec municipality. Crews depressurized and sectioned the line, inspected it with drones, controlled burning product and installed clamps. Reporting on 3 August described four points with visible flame—not four independently established leak causes—with one remaining small and controlled during the response. A related 31 July report described a controlled burn used to vent isobutane safely in the same response area. No injuries were reported. The kilometre references varied across local reports, and Pemex had not published a final cause, so this record does not classify the event as theft or sabotage.
