What happened

The Marshall Islands-flagged tanker reported an external explosion near the port-side aft waterline while sailing unladen. The crew and vessel remained safe and operational. Damage to a bunker tank caused a limited fuel discharge and visible sheen that the manager said was contained. The Indian Navy later recovered and disposed of an unexploded missile warhead lodged in the tanker. Public authorities did not establish who launched it.
