What happened
The UAE Ministry of Climate Change and Environment said tanker oil pollution reached Umm Al Quwain’s shores, with containment, cleanup and coastal assessments underway. Aletihad and Sharjah 24 reproduce the ministry account of temporary beach and coastal-area closures and instructions to avoid fishing in affected areas. No tanker name or IMO number, released volume, cause or reopening date is established. The spill is not attributed here to an attack or linked to either vessel in Iran’s separate mine-strike claims. Cleanup activity does not establish that the source release has stopped. The marker represents the affected coastline, not the tanker’s position or a precise spill boundary. Follow-up: Ras Al Khaimah authorities closed all public beaches on 24 October until further notice. Reuters says no reason was given; this is not proof that the spill reached Ras Al Khaimah, and no additional spill marker is added. Updated on 24 October 2026, 16:49 UTC+0.
