What happened

UK Maritime Trade Operations Warning 124-26 said an unnamed tanker reported being struck by three unknown projectiles while completing an outbound transit of the Strait of Hormuz, approximately 17 nautical miles east of Khasab, Oman. UKMTO reported no casualties or environmental impact and said authorities were investigating. The warning did not identify the tanker, its flag, owner, cargo, damage extent, projectile type or attacker, so no attribution is assigned. The marker is an approximate position calculated from the distance and direction published by UKMTO. This is a separate event from the time-late report of an inbound tanker struck north of Khasab on 29 August and from the uncorroborated, CENTCOM-denied IRGC claim that a supertanker struck two sea mines on 31 August.
