What happened

The 500 kV Veshkayma substation was attacked by drones on 18 October and again on 17 November. Ulyanovsk governor Aleksei Russkikh said the later attack was repelled and caused no casualties or local supply interruption, while Astra reported a fire that was corroborated by NASA FIRMS satellite data. The substation links the Ulyanovsk, Mordovia, Chuvashia and Samara power systems. The extent of equipment damage from either attack was not publicly established.
