What happened

A fire aboard Yara J near Sulina prompted a Romanian rescue response on 14 October. Observator, quoting ARSVOM, records the request at 17:25 UTC and SAR Apollo departing at 17:31 UTC before being recalled at 18:30 UTC (converted from Romanian local time). Observator reports the 17 crew, including Syrian, Indian and Iranian nationals, extinguished the fire without injuries and the vessel headed toward Constanta. Earlier Reuters reporting described evacuation; these accounts differ on crew movement. Romania’s defence minister said drone involvement was unclear and under investigation.
