Al-Jaili refinery, Khartoum — civil-war fire damage
24 January 2025
Sudan
What happened
Fighting around Sudan's roughly 100,000 bbl/d Al-Jaili refinery north of Khartoum set the complex ablaze, with satellite imagery analyzed by the Associated Press showing flames across multiple areas of the site and thick smoke over the capital. Sudan's military blamed the RSF for deliberately setting the fire; the RSF said Sudanese military aircraft had bombed the facility. The refinery was left unable to operate.
