What happened

Oil India’s Baghjan-5 gas well blew out during workover operations on 27 May and ignited on 9 June, producing an uncontrolled gas flow and fire. The Petroleum Ministry recorded three Oil India employees dead, roughly 3,000 affected families evacuated, about 15 houses destroyed and another 10–15 partly damaged. Government agencies opened multiple investigations and compensation was arranged for affected families.
