What happened
Sui Southern Gas Company confirmed that an explosion badly damaged its 18-inch main gas pipeline at the KMP-246 valve assembly in the Bolan riverbed near Gorkat, around 700–800 metres from the Quetta–Sibi Road. Dawn reported that unidentified people placed explosives beneath the line and detonated them remotely, cutting gas supply to Kolpur, Mach, Mastung, Kalat, Pishin, Ziarat and many parts of Quetta. Flames and smoke were reported at the damaged line. SSGC said repair teams were ready but awaiting security clearance to enter the site. No casualties, lost-flow volume or restoration time were published. This was the second major reported attack on an 18-inch SSGC pipeline serving Quetta in 2026: a separate 31 March bombing at Akhtarabad near the Western Bypass also caused a fire and supply suspension. No organisation had been reliably established as responsible in the reviewed mainstream reporting, so the sabotage mechanism is reported rather than independently adjudicated and no actor is assigned here.
When cited sources give different casualty, damage or spill figures for this event, they’re reported side by side above rather than merged into one number. See how confidence levels work.
