What happened

USS Spruance intercepted the Iranian-flagged cargo vessel M/V Touska in the north Arabian Sea while it sailed toward Bandar Abbas. CENTCOM said the crew ignored warnings for six hours before Spruance directed evacuation of the engine room and disabled the vessel's propulsion with several rounds from its 5-inch gun. Marines from the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit then boarded and seized the vessel, which CENTCOM said remained in US custody.
