What happened

Reuters and AFP, citing an IRGC statement carried by Fars, report Iran's claim that in two separate incidents overnight a large oil tanker using what it called an illegal passage south of the Strait of Hormuz caught fire after striking a mine and was halted, and that a supertanker was halted by a large fire while exiting the eastern strait, with a tugboat that approached to fight the fire also catching fire. No vessel names, flags, positions, casualties or independent confirmation from UKMTO, JMIC, CENTCOM or owners were given. This is distinct from the IRGC's four-tanker mine claim announced early on 4 November and from UKMTO 196, the tanker hit north of Qatar. The marker is a broad regional reference.
