What happened

Russia's Defence Ministry said Russian drones struck fuel-storage facilities and a dry-cargo vessel carrying military equipment at the port of Chornomorsk during attacks on the evening of 4 October and overnight into 5 October. Reuters reported the ministry's statement but did not independently verify it. Ukrainian emergency authorities separately reported a large fire in Odesa Oblast, but the reviewed public information did not establish that it occurred at the claimed fuel storage. No operator statement, storage volume, vessel name, flag, IMO number, crew condition, pollution assessment, port-closure notice or geolocated damage imagery was identified. The two claimed impacts are grouped because Russia presented them as part of the same port attack and the public record cannot yet separate their precise locations.
