What happened

Over four consecutive days, drones struck four tankers loading or approaching the Caspian Pipeline Consortium's Black Sea marine terminal, which exports crude from Kazakhstan's Tengiz, Kashagan and Karachaganak fields. The ExxonMobil-chartered Nordic Zenith caught fire on 17 July while empty and approaching the terminal; the Chevron-chartered Asia (Liberia-flagged) and the Nissos Ios (Marshall Islands-flagged) both caught fire while loading on 19 July; and the Cameroon-flagged NELSA was hit while loading at mooring SPM-1 on 20–21 July, prompting the evacuation of 22 crew. Crews extinguished each fire and CPC repeatedly suspended loadings; Kazakhstan's foreign and energy ministries condemned the strikes. Responsibility was not established in the cited reporting.
