Unidentified Iranian commercial vessel

Caspian Sea; precise location not reported

What happened

Iran’s Foreign Ministry said a Ukrainian attack caused an explosion aboard an Iranian commercial vessel, killing one sailor and injuring another. Associated Press and Reuters reported the statement, but neither Iran nor Ukraine publicly identified the vessel. Ukraine separately acknowledged successful Caspian strikes on a Russian warship and vessels it said carried military cargo linked to Iran; the connection to this Iranian vessel remains unconfirmed. A later ballistic-missile graphic was traced by Kyiv Post to the pro-Iranian Telegram channel Middle East Spectator, not to an official Iranian authority. The vessel name, class, cargo, precise position, strike method, damage extent, and relationship to the other reported strikes remain unknown. The marker is approximate.
