Jaguaré gas distribution line — construction rupture and fatal explosion
11 May 2026 · Approximately 16:05 local time
Jaguaré, São Paulo, Brazil (approximate location)
What happened
A crew working for water utility Sabesp struck a Comgás distribution line while relocating a water pipe in Jaguaré. Escaping gas accumulated before a powerful explosion and fire damaged homes and forced evacuations. Authorities later recorded two deaths; initial reporting also described three people injured and around 35 homes directly affected. São Paulo's scientific police completed a technical report for the continuing inquiry. This was a construction accident, not an attack, and the marker is approximate.
