La Pampilla refinery marine terminal — crude-oil spill

15 and 25 January 2022

Ventanilla, Callao, Peru

What happened

Crude oil spilled into the sea at Multi-Buoy Terminal No. 2 serving the La Pampilla refinery during tanker-unloading operations on 15 January, with a second release recorded on 25 January. Peru's environmental regulator documented petroleum hydrocarbons along affected beaches and undertook repeated monitoring of seawater, sediment, beaches and wildlife. This was an operational marine-terminal incident, not an attack.
