What happened

Twelve armed Somali pirates hijacked the Bangladesh-flagged bulk carrier Abdullah, carrying 55,000 tonnes of coal, taking 23 crew hostage. The vessel and crew were released about a month later after a reported ransom payment of roughly $5 million.
