What happened
Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree said on social media platform X that Houthi forces had carried out two separate drone strikes on Saudi Arabia: one against what he called a “sensitive target” at Najran airport, and a second against an Aramco oil facility in the Najran area. Saree said both strikes “achieved their objectives” but gave no details on casualties or the extent of any damage. The Houthis framed the attacks as retaliation for alleged Saudi drone incursions over Yemen's Saada province. Saudi authorities and Aramco did not immediately respond to or confirm the claims. This is a distinct, separately dated claim from the Houthis' 14 August claim against an Aramco facility in Najran already recorded on this site; Business Recorder's report on this 20 August claim notes it follows an escalating pattern of Houthi claims against Saudi energy and shipping targets since the group's 20 July maritime blockade announcement. As with the earlier Najran claim, this record reflects a single-sourced assertion by a party to the conflict, not an independently verified attack.
