What happened

Nizhnekamskneftekhim acknowledged that a fire was localized at its Nizhnekamsk complex and said emergency crews were responding, no threat to life or health had been identified, and accredited laboratories were monitoring air quality. Residents and monitoring channels reported an explosion followed by a large blaze, with some accounts placing the fire near polystyrene or synthetic-rubber production.
