What happened
NOVA Gas Transmission’s 8-inch Simonette Lateral ruptured because of external corrosion while carrying sweet natural gas. The gas ignited and burned for about four hours, releasing an estimated 3.75 million cubic meters and burning approximately 12,000 square meters. No injuries or evacuation were reported.
