What happened

Russian forces struck an unidentified Antigua and Barbuda-flagged cargo vessel near the Greater Odesa port complex overnight on 23 September, according to Ukraine's Sea Ports Authority and State Border Guard Service. The impact caused a fire and killed the ship's Ukrainian captain. Ukrainian naval and border-service rescuers evacuated the surviving crew, and authorities said the fire was extinguished. Public reporting did not identify the vessel, its cargo, weapon type, precise position, damage extent or pollution status. The approximate marker represents the wider port approach and is not an impact coordinate.
