What happened

The U.S. Coast Guard received notice of a crude-oil release from a three-inch Texas Petroleum Investment Company flowline associated with the SOB 1A wellhead in South Pass Block 24. NOAA reported that approximately 150 barrels entered marsh and an adjacent waterway. Containment and cleanup were under way, and responders proposed an in-situ burn. NOAA was providing onsite and remote scientific support. The public incident notice did not identify the failure cause or confirm that the proposed burn had occurred.
