What happened

A third party reported that an unidentified projectile struck a tanker transiting the Strait of Hormuz and that the vessel was believed to have structural damage. No casualties or environmental impact were reported. JMIC later described the vessel as a VLCC and placed the incident approximately 16 nautical miles east of Khor Fakkan. The vessel identity, cargo, projectile source, and responsibility were not established in the UKMTO warning.
