What happened

A tanker traveling east in the IRTC reported that six small boats approached from starboard 50 nautical miles south of Aden. One closed to five cables, prompting the tanker’s armed security team to fire warning shots; the other five remained about one nautical mile away. UKMTO classified the event as suspicious activity, not an attack. The vessel identity, tanker class, cargo, small-boat identities, and intent were not established.
