What happened

UKMTO initially received information from military authorities that a vessel was on fire, with the cause unverified. UKMTO later reclassified the incident as an attack after the company security officer confirmed that an unknown projectile had struck the vessel. The crew safely abandoned it and were recovered by a tug. At the latest cited update, the fire was not extinguished, the vessel was adrift, and no environmental impact was reported. Vessel identity, projectile source, responsibility, and casualty status were not established in the UKMTO notice.
