What happened

UKMTO received multiple reports that a tanker reported over VHF Channel 16 that an unknown projectile had struck it in the Strait of Hormuz. The company security officer later reported that the crew had abandoned the vessel and were in a lifeboat. No environmental impact was reported. The vessel identity, damage extent, projectile source, responsibility, and casualty status were not established in the notice.
