What happened

UKMTO received a report of an incident 11 nautical miles northeast of Lima, Oman. The tanker's company security officer reported that the vessel had been struck by an unknown projectile that damaged the engine room, leaving the tanker not under command. The regional Coast Guard was informed. No casualties or environmental impact were reported. The UKMTO notice itself did not establish the vessel's identity, cargo, projectile source, or responsibility, but GasLog subsequently confirmed the tanker involved was its Bermuda-flagged LNG carrier Gaslog Shanghai, struck while departing the strait on 31 July; the company said everyone aboard was safe and accounted for and the vessel was stable, without disclosing the nature or extent of the damage. It was the second Qatari-cargo LNG carrier hit in the Strait of Hormuz within a month, after the Al Rekayyat on 6 July.
