What happened

MSCIO Alert 86/26 reported that an unnamed cargo vessel broadcast on VHF Channel 16 that it had been struck by an unknown projectile about 20 nautical miles northeast of Khasab, Oman. The vessel suffered a complete blackout and required assistance. The preliminary public alert did not identify the ship, cargo, projectile source, crew condition, damage extent, pollution or later operating status, and assigned no responsibility.
