What happened

MSCIO Alert 95/26 reported that an unnamed vessel was struck by an unknown projectile during an outbound transit of the Strait of Hormuz. The impact damaged the engine room and caused one crew casualty. The Omani Coast Guard was assisting the remaining crew, and no environmental impact was reported. The preliminary alert did not publish the vessel type, name, flag, cargo, later status or attribution.
