Abu Sultan gas-pipeline valve complex — maintenance explosion

31 August 2025 · 18:40 local time

Abu Sultan, Ismailia Governorate, Egypt

What happened

A launcher trap detached from its welded joint at a gas-pipeline valve complex during preparations for maintenance, killing two workers and injuring six. Egypt's petroleum ministry said the affected section had already been emptied of gas and taken out of service, so the accident did not interrupt gas supplies.
