What happened

Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps officers arrested three suspects after discovering that an NNPC petroleum pipeline had been severed near Dafa in the Kwali area of the Federal Capital Territory. FCT commandant Olusola Odumosu said a tactical team began surveillance after receiving information about vandalism along the pipeline right of way. The suspected vandals initially fled, leaving cut pipe sections behind, then allegedly returned on 20 September with a truck to retrieve them, when officers and local vigilantes made the arrests. The NSCDC said four other suspects remained at large and it was investigating a wider network. Public reporting did not name the pipeline, identify its diameter or operator beyond NNPC, establish when the cutting occurred, or report whether the line was active, leaking or interrupting supply.
