What happened
Électricité du Liban said demonstrators attacked its Aramoun distribution facility on 8 January, contributing to a nationwide blackout, and that residents returned later in the month, disconnected a 150 kV transformer and damaged 12 medium-voltage transformers. The later damage cut electricity in Aramoun, Bchamoun, Khaldeh and Choueifat, with some equipment reportedly irreparable because spare parts were unavailable.
