South Timbalier 52 complex — compressor gas fire
14 March 2026 · 09:36 local time
Offshore Louisiana, United States
What happened
A variable-pocket adjuster blew out of a compressor cylinder at Arena Offshore's South Timbalier 52 complex, striking an adjacent compressor and releasing gas that ignited in a large rolling flame. Personnel activated the emergency shutdown and extinguished the fire in less than a minute. No injuries were reported; BSEE estimated damage at $1.8 million and traced the failure to liquid intrusion and compromised separator filters. The marker is approximate.
