1 April 2022

Belgorod, Russia

What happened

A low-altitude air attack ignited a major fire at a Rosneft fuel depot in Belgorod. Reuters verified video showing a low-altitude projectile immediately before an explosion, while regional governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said two Ukrainian helicopters crossed the border and attacked the depot. Ukraine neither confirmed nor denied responsibility. Multiple storage tanks burned, and Russian authorities reorganized local fuel supplies; no deaths were reported.
