Governor Alexander Bogomaz said air defenses shot down 16 fixed-wing UAVs over the oblast overnight and stated there were no casualties or damage, with emergency crews working at the scene. That official account is in tension with local reports of thick black smoke rising from one city district where drone debris fell, and with OSINT reporting (Exilenova+) that the drones' target was the area of the city's oil depot — part of the Bryansk oil distribution point on the Druzhba pipeline, which receives, stores and loads diesel fuel for onward transport by tanker truck and rail, and which Ukraine has previously targeted for its role supplying Russia's armed forces.
