What happened
A petrol leak on a corroded pressure-testing pipe support at TotalEnergies' Feyzin refinery near Lyon fed a pool fire that reached about 50m high and 2,500m² in the distillation unit. The corrosion had reportedly been visually noted three years earlier. The distillation unit was partially destroyed; no injuries were reported and the unit restarted about three weeks later.
