Fos-sur-Mer refinery — catalytic-reformer furnace fire

15 October 2025 · Approximately 03:00 local time

Fos-sur-Mer, Bouches-du-Rhône, France

What happened

A fire broke out in a catalytic-reforming furnace at a Fos-sur-Mer refinery. The operator activated its internal emergency plan, isolated and depressurised the furnace, and shut downstream units. Site teams controlled the fire before public firefighters arrived, perimeter air measurements were conducted and the emergency plan was lifted. ARIA did not report casualties, the refinery operator, outage duration or share of capacity lost, so no shutdown percentage is assigned.
