What happened

UKMTO relays a company security officer’s report that a tanker was struck by an unidentified projectile during an outbound Hormuz transit. No crew injuries or environmental impact were reported at that stage. The notice does not establish the weapon, attacker or operational damage. Vessel identity remains undisclosed, preventing reliable selection of an actual-vessel photograph. This is separate from the dhow sinking in Warning 185 and the later explosive-device attack in Warning 187.

When cited sources give different casualty, damage or spill figures for this event, they’re reported side by side above rather than merged into one number. See how confidence levels work.
