What happened

The Syrian Petroleum Company said an explosion at an isolation valve caused a fire on the gas pipeline between Al-Shola and Deir ez-Zor on the evening of 28 September. The state operator attributed the explosion to sabotage and said it halted gas flows from the Jbessa gas plant to power-generation stations. Fire crews isolated the affected section on both sides and worked to extinguish the blaze while pressure declined. No perpetrator, method, casualty report, quantified supply loss or restoration estimate was published in the reviewed reporting. This is a new interruption on the same wider Jbessa supply system as the separate 18 August sabotage incident, not a duplicate of that earlier explosion.
