Kremenchuk refinery

April–June 2022

Kremenchuk, Poltava region, Ukraine

What happened

Russian missile strikes repeatedly hit Ukraine's largest and only fully functioning oil refinery, at Kremenchuk, beginning in early April 2022 and continuing with further strikes in May and June. Regional officials said the initial attacks destroyed key fuel-processing infrastructure and paralysed the plant; over the course of the war Russia struck the refinery with dozens of missiles and hundreds of drones, and officials said it could not be restored without being rebuilt from scratch.
