Mohammedia LPG depot — LPG storage and distribution fire

22 December 2022

Mohammedia, Morocco

What happened

A major fire produced repeated explosions in the tanker-parking and distribution area of a propane/LPG depot in the port of Mohammedia, destroying five of seven LPG tanker trucks present (each carrying an 8-tonne load). Firefighters brought the blaze under control within about two and a half hours; nearby residents were evacuated as a precaution and no deaths or injuries were reported. Evidence indicated the fire began in the tanker-parking/distribution area rather than the adjacent dormant refinery. This is an LPG storage/distribution incident, not an attack.
