What happened

Russian strikes on Ukraine's civilian energy infrastructure disconnected the 400 kV Vulcănești–Isaccea interconnector linking Moldova with Romania through Ukraine. Moldova activated four lower-voltage links with Romania, but forecast a 350–400 MW peak deficit and urged responsible consumption. Parliament approved a 60-day energy-sector state of emergency from 25 March so authorities could procure emergency electricity, maintain consumption islands and protect critical services. This record describes a cross-border grid cascade; reviewed sources did not establish that the interconnector itself was directly struck.

When cited sources give different casualty, damage or spill figures for this event, they’re reported side by side above rather than merged into one number. See how confidence levels work.
