What happened

UNN reports President Zelensky saying Russia launched 36 ballistic missiles and 172 drones overnight on 7 November, with all the missiles aimed at Kyiv and the surrounding region, and that substations connecting the Rivne and Khmelnytskyi nuclear power plants with Kyiv and central Ukraine were hit. He said substations were also damaged in Vinnytsia, Zhytomyr, Rivne, Kharkiv and Dnipropetrovsk regions, and that nine people were injured, including a child. The Ministry of Energy reported numerous damaged transmission and distribution networks, including lines carrying nuclear power to the capital and central regions, said restoration would take time and that capacity to supply some neighbouring regions was limited. DTEK said one of its Kyiv-region facilities was hit, part of Brovary district had no power, emergency outages replaced schedules in Kyiv region, and the Ukrenergo substations feeding nuclear power to Kyiv were damaged. Zelensky said Kyiv's electricity, water and heat supply was difficult. The specific substations are not named; the marker is a regional area reference. The same night Chernihiv city lost power entirely (separate record).
