What happened

Russian strike drones attacked energy infrastructure in Mykolaiv Oblast, damaging multiple facilities and causing a localised blackout. The regional administration initially reported that more than 300,000 customers lost electricity in Mykolaiv city and communities in the Mykolaiv and Bashtanka districts, with several grid sections disconnected as an emergency precaution. The outage temporarily halted tram services and some trolleybuses in Mykolaiv. Regional distributor Mykolaivoblenergo said the situation was controlled and began reconnecting affected consumers at about 18:50 on 29 August. The Russian Defence Ministry separately claimed that the wider strike wave hit a Mykolaiv maritime transshipment terminal, three fuel-and-lubricant stores, and refuelling and fuel-unloading locations at Izmail. Those port and fuel-site impacts were not independently confirmed in the reviewed Ukrainian operator or local-authority reporting and are retained only as attributed Russian claims, not documented damage.
