What happened
Ukraine's General Staff said Ukrainian Defense Forces drones struck the Novokuibyshevsk oil refinery, a Rosneft subsidiary with roughly 8.8 million tonnes per year of processing capacity, in Samara Oblast on 22 August, sparking a fire on the refinery grounds. The same strike wave reportedly also hit the nearby Ozon logistics and e-commerce hub. Ukraine described the refinery as supplying fuel — gasoline, diesel and aviation fuel — to Russian forces. No casualties were reported in the coverage reviewed, and Samara Oblast officials had not published a damage or production-impact assessment at the time this record was added. This is a separate strike from the 18 April 2026 attack on the same refinery already recorded on this map.
