Slavneft-YANOS refinery, Yaroslavl — fire in region's most massive recent drone raid

What happened

Explosions were heard overnight across Yaroslavl, which Governor Mikhail Yevrayev described as the region's most massive recent drone attack, with 92 drones reported shot down. He said a private house was destroyed by fire, windows were shattered in several apartment buildings, vehicles were damaged, and traffic leaving the city toward Moscow was blocked, while reporting no fatalities or injuries. The governor said debris-clearing operations were under way at the Slavneft-YANOS refinery without confirming a direct strike; the Astra Telegram channel's OSINT analysis identified one of the night's fires as occurring at the refinery itself. This followed a Ukrainian strike on the same refinery the previous night that President Zelensky confirmed, and continues a pattern of repeated attacks — Astra counted at least six fires at this plant in 2026 alone, including the separate, larger 27 July attack recorded elsewhere on this site. Slavneft-YANOS (also called the Novo-Yaroslavl refinery) processes roughly 15 million tonnes of crude a year, among Russia's five largest refineries, producing Euro-5 gasoline, diesel, jet fuel and other products.
